In the Community Soon, school bus exhaust may smell like French fries if St. Helena High School science teacher, Chris O’Connor, has his way… DixonToller has recently donated $5,000 to St. Helena High School to build its biodiesel program. The program teaches students to recycle up to 400 gallons of frying oil per month to earth-friendly biodiesel fuel that can be used by the school district’s vehicles. “We can produce biodiesel today without new technology,” O’Connor explained in an article in “Visions” magazine. “Diesel engines run on biodiesel without modification. It is less detrimental to air quality and human health, and releases 78% less CO2 than fossil diesel, helping to mitigate the effects of global warming.” We are pleased to support this important step to protect our environment and teach area youth about global warming. |
